Gargoyle's
Landing started as a dial-up BBS in Tulsa, Oklahoma in the later part of the 90s running TriBBS software (#3313). It was reborn as a Telnet
BBS in early 2000 thanks to a great BBS package for telnet called Synchronet, and even though the underlying software is different, everything else is as close
to the original board as possible. The BBS now operates on a 1.6ghz AMD machine running Win2k and Synchronet BBS Software through a DSL connection with a static IP address.
The main focus of this BBS is the games, which is what first drew
me into the BBS World. All the old favorites are here. Barren Realms Elite, TradeWars 2002 and Legend of the Red Dragon, just to mention a few.
We are now celebrating our 15th year in operation and as such we want you to have as much fun as we have had!
Enjoy yourself, for that is the sole purpose of this BBS! And if you have any comments, suggestions or requests, please don't hesitate to ask.

FAQ |
What is a BBS? Short for Bulletin Board System, a BBS is a computer system running software that allows
users to dial into the system over a phone line using a terminal program or connect through the internet
through a telnet client, where the user can perform functions such as playing games, downloading software and data,
uploading data, reading news, and exchanging messages with other users.
How do I connect to the BBS? Obviously this is probably the most important question. There are several ways of connecting:
The quickest would be to click here.
If your machine has a built in telnet client it will be launched and you can log into the BBS by following the instructions on the screen. Windows comes with two terminals, Microsoft Telnet Client (the default and not recommended) and HyperTerminal (to set it up follow the link).
The second would be to download and install a third party telnet client, such as mTelnet, to use as your client.
Lastly you can access it from the web directly using the Java Client on this page.
Why can’t I connect?
Weather: If the weather is looking particularly nasty, the BBS may be shut down to protect it from lightning strikes, power surges or power outages.
Firewall: you may be behind a firewall (hardware or software) that is blocking port 23, which is how Telnet talks to the BBS. If you have connected before, this probably is not the problem. Contact me and Ill see if I can help you connect.
Random other issues: I may be installling new hardware/software/making configuration changes to the BBS or the box the BBS is on may have shut down on its own, the software may have locked up, etc. in this case the machine will be looked at when I can get my hands on it, usually after 4:00 CST on a weekeday.
What kind of hardware does the BBS run on?
The BBS was recently upgraded with the following:
BIOSTAR TForce6100 - Socket 754 Motherboard
AMD SEMPRON 2800+ 1.6Ghz CPU
120 GB Seagate Barracuda Ultra ATA 100
160 GB Seagate Barracuda Ultra ATA 100
1 GIG DDR400 RAM
This configuration is more than enough, pending hardware failure, for the BBS to run a long, LONG time.
